ED & Lorraine Warren.

Ed and Lorraine Warren were two not so simple people, with not so simple lives. Ed & Lorraine have recently been re-invented in the incredibly successful film ‘ The Conjuring’ and its sequels/prequels. But despite this, there are many things about these two ghost hunters that people and the media have dismissed.

Amityville: 

 

Perhaps one of the most intriguing ghosts of all time was the Amityville murders that took place in 1975. These murders Inspired countless films, stories and even a book written by Jay Anson called ‘ The Amityville Horror’ which documents and describes the events that took place.

In mid-November 1974 one of the most horrifying murders in history took place.  Ronald Defeo Jr shot and killed 5 of his family members and therefore led to one of the most intriguing and famous ghost stories of all time. 20 days after the haunting took place Paranormal Investigators Ed & Lorraine Warren were called in by Marvin Scott a news reporter with Channel 5 NY who had covered the Amityville story and worked with the Warrens before. A team of reporters, investigators, and parapsychologists were brought together the Warrens and met at the home at 112 Ocean Avenue (the Amityville house). During the investigation Ed was pushed to the floor by an unknown force while using some religious provocation in the basement, Lorraine was also overwhelmed by the sense of a Demonic presence.of the Defeo Families bodies laid along the floor covered in white sheets, and a sense of physically being thrown back.

The research team also captured an image of spirit that appeared as a young child staring from the second floor.  The land was also found to be used by John Ketchum who was a practising black magician and had a house on the land before to the construct of the Dutch Colonial in the 1920’s. John requested that his remains be buried on that property and they remain there to this day.

The Warrens believed that the suffering there had left the property with a very negative energy and horrifying history. And that Such things were a magnet for demonic spirits and evil. The Warrens believe these energies heavily impacted the lives of the Defoe’s and the family that lived there afterwards.

The Warrens gained a large amount of fame for participating in this historic event. They were featured in multiple talk-shows and news reports and played a large role in their overall legacy throughout the years.

Annabelle:

Possibly one of the most famous paranormal stories that the two Warrens were involved in is the Annabelle story has recently been adapted into an icon for paranormal media and has even started a horror film series which are sequels to the previously mentioned Conjuring films.

The story of Annabelle is simply that a doll belonging to a student nurse became cursed by a young girl named Annabelle Higgins. The doll began to act violently and the situation worsened until the nurse and her flatmate had to contact the Warrens.

 The Warrens came to help the nurse and her friend and then collected the doll and have preserved it, to this day, in their museum of paranormal artefacts.

I personally think that the Annabelle doll has become such a large figure in paranormal history because of the fact that it uses a stereotypically creepy item (a doll). And honestly, I understand people’s fear of dolls; they’re basically fake little people who just stare at you living your life. And the fact that Annabelle is a “Raggedy Ann doll” only adds to that because the brand was very popular in that specific time period which personally would terrify me if I owned one.

 

These two stories are (to me) the biggest adventures that the Warrens took place in. But trust me, there are many MANY more stories about them. One of which took place a short distance from where I live (Enfield). Every case that these two are involved in are own terrifying adventures, and it fascinates me that Ed & Lorraine could spend their whole lives solving these paranormal mysteries. They also have a museum filled with possessed and deadly items, a reoccurring plot point in the conjuring movies, a place I would honestly like to visit. But if I did I would probably end up being ridiculously paranoid that I was haunted for like 30 years after.

Anyway, that’s all I have to say about these two, for now, I literally just wanted to do this post because I think that these two people are some of the most interesting I know of and have done some crazy stuff. I’ll hopefully be posting every Friday from now on, but (as you can see) my posts are quite large and quite hard to research on a write.
