The Wessex Way Monster.

The Wessex way monster is a relatively small phenomenon, but a quite fascinating one too.

Theories about this so called ‘monster’ started to form when a CCTV video was discovered and luckily for us, uploaded to the internet.

See the Video: Wessex Way “monster’ analysed (HD) creepy footage!!

I was thoroughly surprised when I found this video and realised how close to me it is. I spend a large amount of my time looking for creepy videos or stories and then all of a sudden I discover that a monster has been seen on CCTV only a short distance from me. More specifically, this video was taken on the A338 motorway (highway) passing through Wessex. This road passes through about 23 miles of woodland area, with no other joining roads. But this video shows that it’s not just a normal woods, but that something much worse may be hidden inside.

The video:

In the video, we are instantly shown a vacant piece of road with no oncoming cars. But after a few seconds, a van appears from off-camera and drives away in the far lane. Once this van is about 3 quatres across the screen a large, four-legged creature springs out of the bushes. The creature runs across the road at an incredible speed, before jumping over the central barrier and narrowly missing a passing car. All before disappearing back into the undergrowth.

Firstly, I want to say that I believe that this video is 100% real. If this video was faked then it was done extremely well. The first thing I noticed whilst looking at this video was the shadows. Every shadow seems to match perfectly and change realistically throughout the video. For example,  when this creature is on the far side of the light. the shadow leads in the opposite direction (as it should). And once the creature passes to the other side of the light, the shadow changes to the correct position. Shadows are a very easy way of determining whether or not a video is faked because they are very hard to perfect but very easy to see.

Although this video seems real, I can’t help but think that this mysterious creature is most likely some kind of dog or animal. I personally think that this looks almost identical to a Greyhound dog, which is quite common in the area that this video was captured. This was probably a stray or loose dog that ran across the road. The video quality also isn’t the best, more scary meaning that the image could have been warped (not to mention how blurred the video is) to make scarier than it actually was.

Greyhounds are also specially bred for racing, meaning that one could probably outrun a car going at a fairly low speed.

In recent years there have also been stories on Greyhounds that have been running away from home after their racing careers end. This means that there are Greyhounds all over England that are entirely unaccounted for.

Overall, I completely believe in the legitimacy of this video, and would even go as far as to say that people living in the surrounding area need to stay cautious of unidentified animals lurking in woodland areas. But I think that this creature is probably just a dog (most likely a Greyhound) that has wondered away from home and nearly been hit by a few cars.

Despite this, People should still be aware, because this video may just prove that there are more than just deer and mice in the undergrowth of the Wessex Woods.

The story of Kuchisake-Onna is mainly addressed as an urban legend based in suburban Japan and has the potential to shock you to your core! I personally have known this story for quite a while and it as stayed wth me this whole time, and I’m not sure why.

The time the story takes place in is heavily disputed, but commonly thought to be sometime in the 16 or 17 hundred’s (the Edo period). This specific period in Japan was when the samurai was common and respected, like noble soldiers. A samurai came home one night to discover that his wife had been unfaithful to him. In a fit of rage, the soldier apparently mutilated her face in horrific ways. He carved a permanent smile onto her face, slicing from ear to ear.

a depiction of the woman’s face.

Stories say that this woman returns as a vengeful spirit who returns to the world of the living to inflict pain on all. But specifically small children.

Over the past century, there have been countless sightings of a woman wearing a red cloth or mask over her lower face harassing or abducting small children in countries such as Korea, Japan and China. It is reported and believed that this woman will approach a small child with her face covered – usually by a red velvet mask or scarf – and ask the child if they think that she is pretty. If the child says yes she will reveal her real face and ask once again if they think that she is pretty. If the child screams or has any sort of exaction then she will abduct them and slice their face from ear to ear, exactly like her own face. If the child remains calm once she reveals herself, she will still follow them home and slaughter them that night.

There has recently been a film created in homage to this story, but it is Japanese unfortunately, and I could not find a dubbed version online, therefore I could not watch it. The film is called ‘ Carved ‘ and was made in 2007.

Although I personally like this story, I can’t help but be suspicious of it. The only real evidence that this story is true is the reported sightings of the ‘slit mouth woman’, which could easily have bee faked. I am almost certain that in this day and age, in a technologically advanced country like Japan, that someone would have videoed or photographed it in some way; But as far as I could tell, there is no legitimate footage online…… yet.

Another thing that didn’t make much sense to me is how a small child is supposed to have completely no reaction. I’m not a small child, and there is no way that I wouldn’t react to a woman missing her cheeks that just happens to want to kill me. Apparently people have tried to throw food or toys at the woman in attempt to escape her, but never to have worked, which is honestly the smartest thing to do 8n my mind.

Anyway, that’s all I really have to say about this particular story. Sorry that this was a short post, but it is a short story.  I will most likely update it soon though.

Posting every Friday, follow my Twitter or instagram to stay updated ( links in about page ).

Thanks for reading!

ED & Lorraine Warren.

Ed and Lorraine Warren were two not so simple people, with not so simple lives. Ed & Lorraine have recently been re-invented in the incredibly successful film ‘ The Conjuring’ and its sequels/prequels. But despite this, there are many things about these two ghost hunters that people and the media have dismissed.

Perhaps one of the most intriguing ghosts of all time was the Amityville murders that took place in 1975. These murders Inspired countless films, stories and even a book written by Jay Anson called ‘ The Amityville Horror’ which documents and describes the events that took place.

In mid-November 1974 one of the most horrifying murders in history took place.  Ronald Defeo Jr shot and killed 5 of his family members and therefore led to one of the most intriguing and famous ghost stories of all time. (Don’t worry, I’ll definitely do a post on it in the near future) For more information visit the Wikipedia Amityville sight.

20 days after the haunting took place Paranormal Investigators Ed & Lorraine Warren were called in by Marvin Scott a news reporter with Channel 5 NY who had covered the Amityville story and worked with the Warrens before. A team of reporters, investigators, and parapsychologists were brought together the Warrens and met at the home at 112 Ocean Avenue (the Amityville house). During the investigation Ed was pushed to the floor by an unknown force while using some religious provocation in the basement, Lorraine was also overwhelmed by the sense of a Demonic presence.of the Defeo Families bodies laid along the floor covered in white sheets, and a sense of physically being thrown back.

The research team also captured an image of spirit that appeared as a young child staring from the second floor.  The land was also found to be used by John Ketchum who was a practising black magician and had a house on the land before to the construct of the Dutch Colonial in the 1920’s. John requested that his remains be buried on that property and they remain there to this day.

The Warrens believed that the suffering there had left the property with a very negative energy and horrifying history. And that Such things were a magnet for demonic spirits and evil. The Warrens believe these energies heavily impacted the lives of the Defoe’s and the family that lived there afterwards.

The Warrens gained a large amount of fame for participating in this historic event. They were featured in multiple talk-shows and news reports and played a large role in their overall legacy throughout the years.

Possibly one of the most famous paranormal stories that the two Warrens were involved in is the Annabelle story has recently been adapted into an icon for paranormal media and has even started a horror film series which are sequels to the previously mentioned Conjuring films.

The story of Annabelle is simply that a doll belonging to a student nurse became cursed by a young girl named Annabelle Higgins. The doll began to act violently and the situation worsened until the nurse and her flatmate had to contact the Warrens.

for more information visit the Annabelle doll Wikipedia page.

The Warrens came to help the nurse and her friend and then collected the doll and have preserved it, to this day, in their museum of paranormal artefacts.

A comparison of the Annabelle doll from media and reality.

I personally think that the Annabelle doll has become such a large figure in paranormal history because of the fact that it uses a stereotypically creepy item (a doll). And honestly, I understand people’s fear of dolls; they’re basically fake little people who just stare at you living your life. And the fact that Annabelle is a “Raggedy Ann doll” only adds to that because the brand was very popular in that specific time period which personally would terrify me if I owned one.

These two stories are (to me) the biggest adventures that the Warrens took place in. But trust me, there are many MANY more stories about them. One of which took place a short distance from where I live (Enfield). Every case that these two are involved in are own terrifying adventures, and it fascinates me that Ed & Lorraine could spend their whole lives solving these paranormal mysteries. They also have a museum filled with possessed and deadly items, a reoccurring plot point in the conjuring movies, a place I would honestly like to visit. But if I did I would probably end up being ridiculously paranoid that I was haunted for like 30 years after.

Anyway, that’s all I have to say about these two, for now, I literally just wanted to do this post because I think that these two people are some of the most interesting I know of and have done some crazy stuff. I’ll hopefully be posting every Friday from now on, but (as you can see) my posts are quite large and quite hard to research on a write.

(side note- I will definitely be doing a post on both Amityville and Annabelle in the future, so just expect that.)

An Old Doll Named Robert

I’m starting my blog with a very creepy and very true story. Not so long ago in a suburban house in Florida, a young boy named Robert Otto was unfortunate enough to receive a present from the family maid, a doll, something most view as innocent and simple. However, this family immediately fired the maid after she was caught using black magic in their household. The now unemployed maid took it upon herself to punish the family for discarding her, by placing a curse upon the doll and leaving it with the Otto family.

Robert was quick to form a close bond with this doll, it shared quite a large resemblance with him. It was about 3 ft. tall with deep black button eyes. He was so in love with the doll that he decided to call it by his own name, Robert. In the weeks that followed the doll never left his side, a large mistake on his behalf.

Soon after, the doll started displaying signs of unusual behaviour, doing things that were thought to be impossible or suspicious. The family would leave for a day and return to find the Robert doll in different positions than the way that they left him. On some days, the doll would be found in whole new areas in Roberts room and would have seemingly climbed onto the bed or a chair. On many occasions, Robert would wake up and find his own doll sat in a chair, staring lifelessly at him from across the room.

Later on, the Otto’s would hear loud bangs and find smashed furniture and paintings in rooms that nobody had been in. Screams and eerie giggles would echo through the hallways. On multiple occasions Robert would be heard screaming in his room and come running down the stairs covered in deep cuts and bruises, claiming his doll had attacked him. Whenever the family went on a holiday or day out, neighbours would claim to see the Robert doll walking from window to window, or staring directly towards them as they passed by.

These supernatural occurrences got more and more frequent as time went on, slowly becoming worse and worse, driving the family insane. Robert soon had enough and decided to be called Gene (his middle name). He did this in the hope that he would no longer share a connection with the Robert Doll. As time went on, Roberts behaviour worsened. Throughout the rest of his time at the house, Robert made Gene’s life a living hell. Gene began desperately asking family and friends to help him and, in doing so, discovered a way to escape Robert forever. His great aunt recommended that Robert should be locked away somewhere deep in the house; Gene decided to take her advice and lock him in a box and leave him in an attic for decades. The family eventually moved away and lived out a happy life.

After Gene’s dad passed away, he decided to return to his childhood home,

He decided to live in the Victorian mansion with is new wife. Gene had become an artist and felt the house was spacious and would provide a place for him to paint. He went to the attic and dusted off his childhood toy. He became attached to the doll despite his wife’s displeasure. Gene would take the doll along with them everywhere they went. He even sat in his favourite little chair while Gene and his wife slept nearby. The Turret Room became Robert’s domain after Miss Otto moved him back to the attic. Their marriage slowly became sour until Miss Otto supposedly went insane and died of unknown reasons. Gene followed soon behind.

Robert supposedly attacked people, sometimes locking them in the attic. People who passed by claimed to hear evil laughter coming from the Turret Room. For some time, Robert remained in the empty house by himself until a new family purchased the mansion and restored it. The doll was once again moved to the attic. This pleased it as much as the last time. The doll was often found throughout the house. On one certain night, Robert was found at the foot of the owner’s bed giggling with a kitchen knife in hand. This was enough to send them fleeing from the home.

Robert was later moved to the East Martello Museum in Key West where he sits perched in a glass box. Despite his new living quarters, the doll is believed to not have given up his menacing ways. Visitors and employees claim they have seen the doll move. His smile has been known to turn into a scowl. One employee cleaned Robert, turned off all the lights and left for the night. The next day, they returned to find lights turned on, Robert sitting in a different position than the night before and a fresh layer of dust on his shoes. Some say he’ll even curse you. If you want to take a picture of him, you must ask politely. He’ll tilt his head in permission. However, if he doesn’t and you take the picture anyways, a curse will befall upon you and anyone who accompanied you to the museum. The same will happen if you make fun of him.

I honestly couldn’t find anything fake or contradictory in this story. If I’m being completely honest, the first time I read this (or heard it) I wasn’t too sure about it, the whole time I was thinking ‘how could any of this be proven’, And then, of course, i find out that the doll exists!

Honestly, I  find the fact that the doll is trapped at a museum almost as creepy as the story. I mean seriously, it got annoyed at being locked in an attic, so you decide to lock it in a glass box in a public place.

And also, I wouldn’t even try to take pictures with it. I mean, what were they thinking, “on the one hand I might be haunted by a demonic doll, on the other hand, sweet selfie”………….Idiots.

Honestly, though, the moment my toy starts staring at me when I’m trying to get some sleep, not just because it’s creepy because I love to sleep. I’m joking, but honestly, I would leave that house instantly. I don’t really understand why Gene waited until adulthood to leave, and even when he did he came back….. With his family!

Quick theory; the moment Gene rediscovered the doll, he instantly fell back in love with it, the same way as before. Maybe the doll does this on purpose, as a way to trap the owner into a life of misery.

On a serious note, I honestly like this story and hope to visit the doll myself one day (not to take a picture) and I hope you did too.
